The star has donated the full amount of his £25k honor prize money to the Music Venues Trust, which operates to preserve the Britain's grassroots music venues.

Fender was awarded the award on October 16 as his latest record his work was declared the outstanding release of the last 12 months.

He has decided to donate the funds to the trust, in appreciation of the essential function local spots fulfilled in his beginning days.

"As an artist would not have achieved this success if it hadn't been for all the performances I performed around the area, and beyond, when I was just getting going," stated Fender. "These spaces are renowned, but they are in difficulty."

Since the start of 2023, at least 150 of these locations have permanently closed – approximately 16% of the total UK scene.

Over the past year, well-known musicians like the band Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the trust in its initiatives to help venues survive, by including a minor surcharge to their admission fees, which supports independent venues.

Sam Fender also took part, raising over £100k on his recent tour to help numerous small stages across Britain.

The donation assisted locations that were facing imminent closure due to difficulties arising from water damage, fires and family tragedies, as well as permit problems, conflicts and sound issues.

Some locations obtained funding support in upgrading facilities and sound and lighting systems that positively impacted performers and audiences.

"The notion that revenue from shows in big venues backs the local stages, where it kicks off for artists like me, is just common sense," Fender has commented.

He is far from the only musician to contribute his honor funds to charitable organizations.

In Pulp earned the trophy in the year 1996 for their album their work, lead singer Jarvis Cocker announced that the group would give their cash to the non-profit the charity.

In 2002, musician the artist divided her prize across a few good causes, including the NSPCC and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"Additionally, I donated a thousand pounds to Highgate Newtown, to their classes, because I practiced gymnastics when I was a child and they lacked better apparatus," Ms Dynamite explained to a publication.

Two years ago, they donated their prize money to the youth organization that nurtured their band, in addition to other independent music bodies.

Additionally winners that year they donated their prize to a charity for MS after a acquaintance was diagnosed the illness.

"The victory was sufficient," stated artist the singer. "The money was the extra but we didn't need the bonus, because we had the honor. So our winning affected another person's life."

In the past week, the trust announced it had saved two local spots in the South East, by transferring them to public stewardship.

The first in Southampton and The Croft in Bristol were purchased under the community ownership program, which is funded by a national body and supporters who purchase "stakes" in the venues.
